What is Hyperdilute Radiesse ?

Radiesse is made from calcium hydroxyapatite particles suspended in a water gel. It doesn’t “fill” in the area of volume loss as typical hyaluronic acid fillers do. Instead, the calcium hydroxyapatite molecules stimulate the body to produce new amounts of collagen. This then firms and plumps the skin over time, filling in areas of volume loss and pushing back up wrinkles and lines. This is really a natural solution to regain volume.

Hyperdiluted Radiesse is simply Radiesse that has been thinned out with a mixture of saline solution and Lidocaine. This diluted mixture is injected into areas where the skin is showing sagging and looseness. The calcium hydroxyapatite molecules in Radiesse then stimulate the body to build new collagen. This naturally firms and improves the area, adding volume to the sagging area and improving the skin texture.

Where can it be used?

At Luna we currently are using hyperdilute Radiesse in the:

• Neck
• Decolletage (chest)
• Knees

How is it done?

To create the hyperdiluted material, Radiesse is combined with a simple saline solution along with Lidocaine for optimal comfort. We inject the solution with a cannula, which is a straw like plastic tube. This makes it easier and more comfortable to place the hyperdilute Radiesse into thinner areas where the skin is crepe-like and saggy (like the neck). These injections are quick, virtually pain-free, 30-minute treatments. There typically isn’t any downtime because of the use of the cannula.

Are Radiesse treatments safe?

Radiesse was approved by the FDA as a facial filler at the end of 2006. This new use of hyperdiluted Radiesse is technically “off label,” but because of the dilution, there isn’t any risk of reaction. Calcium hydroxyapatite, which is the mechanism by which Radiesse triggers collagen production, is a naturally occurring form of the mineral calcium apatite. It isn’t a foreign, manufactured substance, and it has proven to be safe.
